Dare to Try Anew

Assalamu'alaikum wbt and sawadeekrap, peeps!
Been so busy lately with study and work and finally a wee bit of rest before the real challenge starts.

Apart from being busy with my study and other organisational work (student council in which I had already retired from YEAH!), I am also keeping myself hectic and active with other things that I haven't tried before. But if you already knew me before this, I was a passive and inactive person, ever since primary school. I hate being active in any extra-curricular activities such as sports and clubs, unless that club is related to something I like and passionate about i.e. English. One of the reasons I dislike being active in these EC activities is because I hate to mingle around with people back then. I don't know, but maybe it's related to my low self-esteem and confidence.

However, when I entered IPG, I was still the same during foundation years and a year after Degree program. But everything changed in 2015. I became brave and daring to try new things. I tried so many things ever since then i.e. archery (even though I didn't get to pull the bow and shoot an arrow due to inactivity LMAO), public speaking (in which I scared and hated the most during secondary school), basketball (I wanted to try this since high school and finally get to try it here), being in a student council, acting (I am in a club called 'Anak Seni Razali Ismail' or in short ASRI and they're like my second or third family now), gym (yeah, lifting bar bells, dumb bells and other stuffs because I was persuaded (read: dared and challenged) by my juniors to be a better self), 'gamelan' (a Malaysian traditional orchestral band that consists of many brass percussion instruments), 'silat' (a traditional Malaysian martial art) and many other little stuffs that I might miss out.

Trying new things can be something good for you and your personal development and growth. It's like reading--however by actually trying anew, you'll not only develop your experience and mental growth, you're physically involved with new things, unlike reading. I didn't say reading is not good, but by actually trying and involving in new things, you'll develop better. I kind of like getting myself involve in many things nowadays because of the joy and experience it gives, especially silat and gamelan.

In this life, try to learn new things because it can help you to experience the world in a whole new perspective of things. For example, gamelan helps me in knowing and appreciating the art and heritage of my own country represents, not only that, silat as well. While getting involve with gym activities help me in being a better 'me', just like what Chem said, "Fitness is a way of life." Getting involve with numerous things also helps me in clearing and widening my views of the world around me. Like before this I was skeptical towards people who do public speaking, but when I do it myself, I fell in love with it. Period.

Now what I want to say is try something new in your life. Something that you never had tried before. Open your views on your surrounding. Broaden your experience 'memory space'. Dare yourself to try anew. Challenge your limits and beat those discouraging and belittling words from others. Be yourself. Be a better you.

That's all. Thanks for reading!
